Top 5 Complaints of Star Wars Battlefront & Why They’re Stupid

It’s now been ten months since the release of Star Wars Battlefront, and believe it or not- people still play the game and love it. Since the game came out in October, I’ve heard the same 5 complaints, and I get tired of hearing them over and over.

Before I break down the 5 complaints, I just want to point out that if Battlefront isn’t for you- I totally get it! There are games that just don’t work for me, and that’s understandable. What annoys me is that people bought this game without doing the research, they got a different game than they thought, and therefore it is the “worst game ever”.

Okay so here’s the top 5 complaints I’ve heard about Star Wars Battlefront:

1. No Singleplayer Campaign

2. Expensive DLC (Downloadable Content)

3. Lack of Content

4. “It’s Battlefield with a Star Wars skin”

5. Lack of Repeat Playability

If you bought Battlefront because it had the name Star Wars attached to it, but didn’t do any research before spending $60- you’re an idiot. If you’re an idiot, you probably use one or more of these complaints to justify why this game is stupid, so I’m going to explain why you are stupid for thinking that.

Again, If you did your research and didn’t buy the game, or bought the game and remain indifferent about it, this article isn’t directed towards you- so don’t yell at me. Let’s do this!

1. No singleplayer Campaign

I hear this complaint the most, and it drives me crazy. First, you have to understand that we were never promised a story mode. So to count this against Battlefront would just be foolish. That’s like saying Overwatch sucks because it doesn’t have a story mode. I totally understand people wanting to have a story mode with this game, but their complaint doesn’t make sense in this context. You’ll hear me say this a lot, but it’s true- do your research before you pay $60 for a video game!

2. Expensive DLC (Downloadable Content)

I hear this complaint a lot too, people are mad that they ‘have’ to spend $50 for the DLC Season pass. Why is this stupid? Because no one is forcing you to buy the DLC. Is the DLC fun to play? YES. Do you need the DLC to enjoy the game? No.

The game comes with plenty of modes and maps to keep you busy for a while for the type of game it is. Could they have given us more maps & modes? Of course, that goes for most games released today though. Before any DLC was released, I had tons of fun playing with friends. I think that’s the key- playing with friends. We’ll touch on that a little later.

3. Lack of Content

Star Wars Battlefront comes with nine game modes, four planets, and twelve multiplayer maps. How does it compare to other games? Pretty similar actually. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 has twelve maps, Overwatch has thirteen, and Battlefield 4 has ten. Honestly, Star Wars Battlefront doesn’t lack in content when it comes to online play, and remember- we were never promised a campaign mode.

4. “It’s Battlefield with a Star Wars skin”

I think this complaint is partially valid. That being said, many games made by the same company are similar in how they play. If you have never been a fan of DICE or EA, why would you even buy this game? I understand that it’s Star Wars and people are completionists, but it seems like a waste of money to me.

Battlefront feels very much like Battlefield in the way that it plays, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’d love a Far Cry, Uncharted, or even a Grand Theft Auto game with a Star Wars skin. Again, you should always do your research before paying $60 for a video game. If you’ve never liked a Battlefield game, you should have immediately marked Star Wars Battlefront off of your wishlist.

5. Lack of Repeat Playability

This one gets a little tricky. Let’s jump back in time to your favorite video game as a kid, mine was actually the original Battlefront. What percentage of your time did you play this certain game by yourself versus with one or more friends? Personally I would say 75% of the time, I played Battlefront with friends. Sure when I was home and bored I’d pop it in, but the times I was having the most fun was with my friends.

I believe that Battlefront has plenty of repeat playability, because there are a great number of maps and modes to choose from. I think people who enjoy Battlefront the most are people who play with a friend or even a big group of friends. Like I said, this game is fun to play by yourself, but the fun level jumps up tremendously when you’re playing with other people.

I think the reason people believe Battlefront doesn’t have repeat playability is because they get tired of playing online all alone, especially because there is no game chat for whatever reason. Also, I think part of the problem is that there is no campaign mode. Many times on other games if a friend isn’t online playing with me, I’ll switch over to campaign mode, and that freshens it up.

If you have a friend to play with, it doesn’t get boring like people claim. EA makes it rather difficult to make friends because they ban any type of game chat. So, if you have an Xbox and don’t have anyone to play with, add me! My gamertag is Waffleman311, just let me know you read my article so I know to add you back.

In the end, Star Wars Battlefront is a fun game that focuses on online play. If you do your research before buying the game, I don’t think you will hate it.  It’s a great game, and I’d definitely recommend getting the DLC if you have the funds. Again, if you don’t like Battlefront, that’s totally fine! What I have a problem with is people who didn’t do any research, bought the game just because it said Star Wars, and hated it for any of these 5 reasons.

Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to add me on XboxOne!
